Now is the time to "plan" for possible scenarios with your family. Learn how to feed your family on less because groceries is the one place that most people can really cut down costs! Also, make sure you are out of debt and don't put anything on credit. Save, save, save, you will need those greenbacks to live on in case of a job loss. And most importantly: PRAY!

I was just laid off from my job 1/5/09. Happy New Year to me! I have been going to night school for 2 1/2 years and only lack a semester, so my husband and I decided that I should go to school full time this semester and graduate and then get a job in the field of my degree. I am really nervous about this since we have 2 kids, any suggestions for making ends meet?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Amy
Hi Amy and thanks for your comment. I don't think you would like my advice because the first thing I would tell you to do, since you are married, is to take care of children at home and not work. I couldn't tell you to do anything else because it would go against what I believe a woman's role is in the home, especially when there are children involved.
ReplyDeleteBut setting that aside, there are ways you can survive on one income. The best place to cut down spending is almost always in the grocery budget. You can read my posts on Meal Planning 101 and find out how I'm able to feed the 3 of us on just $80 a month. It can be done and healthfully too.
Next, would be to eliminate all unnecessary expenses and only have the bare necessities.
Most importantly is prayer above all.
